FAQs

Pathways

You study for one year at PCHE in Colombo, completing a Foundation or a Diploma. That year is mapped against the first year of a partner university degree, so on completion you transfer directly into year two abroad and finish the degree there. The award you graduate with is the partner university's own, identical to the one earned by students who studied all three years on their campus.

Progression is guaranteed on meeting the academic and English requirements set out in the articulation agreement for your programme. We tell you exactly what those requirements are at the point of enrolment, not at the end of the year, and the student services team supports you through the application and visa process.

The student services team handles university applications, credit transfer documentation, visa guidance and pre-departure briefings. Alumni already at your destination university are also connected to you before you travel, which in practice is the support students say they valued most.

Programmes

The Foundation is the entry point after GCE O/Ls, or for applicants whose qualifications do not map onto direct diploma entry. It builds academic skills alongside an introduction to the subject, and progresses into the Diploma. The Diploma is the post-A/L entry point and carries a full year of university credit.

PCHE programmes are registered with the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) of Sri Lanka. The degree you complete abroad is awarded by the partner university and carries that institution's full recognition.

Admissions

For a Diploma you need three passes at GCE A/L in any stream, plus a credit pass in English at O/L or an accepted English proficiency test. For a Foundation you need six passes at O/L including English. Applicants holding other qualifications are assessed individually, so contact us rather than assuming you do not qualify.

Most programmes have January, May and September intakes. Psychology runs January and May. Applications open several months ahead of each intake and places are offered as applications are assessed, so applying early is worth doing.

Fees

Fees vary by programme and are quoted per academic year. Studying the first year in Colombo is substantially less expensive than studying the same year abroad, which is the main financial reason families choose a pathway. Contact the admissions team for the current fee schedule and payment plan options.

Student life

Yes. Teaching is timetabled at 15 to 20 hours per week, which leaves room for part-time work. Career Launchpad, our placement partnership with XpressJobs, lists internships and part-time roles directly on this site.

The college is small enough that students know each other across cohorts. The student council runs a calendar that covers Avurudu, Vesak, Thai Pongal, Halloween and the annual Soiree, alongside sport, debating and workshops. Attendance is not compulsory and most students turn up anyway.
